When the elegance of a bespoke kitchen meets the heritage of the Périgord

Nestled in the heart of the Périgord countryside, the Château de Carsac is a magnificent 18th-century residence that embodies all the charm of the French art of living. Surrounded by rolling countryside and vineyards, this charming château has been fully restored to offer an exceptional setting where authenticity, comfort and refinement come together.

Its pale stonework, ancient beams, monumental fireplaces and spacious rooms bear witness to a rich architectural heritage. Today, the Château de Carsac welcomes its guests into an environment where every space has been designed with the utmost care to preserve the soul of the place whilst meeting the demands of modern comfort.

It was with this in mind that the owners commissioned JustKitchens to design and install a new kitchen. Their aim was to create a functional, light and welcoming space that would blend naturally into this historic residence without ever compromising its character.

The result is a kitchen that seems as though it has always been part of the château: elegant, timeless and perfectly suited to its surroundings.

A transformation that respects the spirit of the château

At first glance, the transformation is striking.

The old kitchen already had real character thanks to its monumental stone fireplace, exposed beams, arched windows and terracotta floor. However, its layout no longer met modern needs and did not allow this exceptional space to be enjoyed to the full.

The challenge entrusted to JustKitchens was not to transform the room’s identity, but to reveal its full potential.

The original architecture has been carefully preserved, whilst every element of the new kitchen has been designed to blend naturally into the château. The spaces are now more open, the flow between them more fluid, and the light showcases both the old and new materials.

The ‘before and after’ photos perfectly illustrate this philosophy: to create a contemporary kitchen that harmonises with nearly three centuries of history. The spirit of the place remains intact, whilst the space has gained in elegance, functionality and warmth.

Choosing a Neptune Chichester solid wood kitchen

For this exceptional project, JustKitchens has selected a Neptune Chichester kitchen, crafted from solid wood and finished in the delicate ‘Shell’ finish.

An iconic range from Neptune, the Chichester collection captivates with its reimagined classic aesthetic, its framed fronts, its elegant proportions and the quality of its handcrafted construction.

The Shell colour, an off-white subtly warmed by creamy undertones, brings softness and brightness whilst showcasing the castle’s historic materials.

Solid wood, renowned for its strength and durability, is a natural choice for a residence of this calibre, where every element is designed to last for generations.

  1. A central island designed for entertaining

At the centre of the kitchen, a spacious island becomes the true heart of the home.

Its natural stone worktop provides a generous preparation area whilst creating a welcoming space in which to cook, share a drink or have breakfast.

The ample built-in storage, the built-in wine cellar and the seating combine style and functionality without compromising the room’s visual balance.

  2. Integration that respects the architecture

One of the major challenges of this project was to integrate modern fittings into an old building.

The furniture was designed to fit perfectly into the existing spaces.

The framed extractor hood blends seamlessly into the cooking area, whilst the tall units lend the room an elegant structure.

The smoked glass pendant lights add a contemporary touch whilst maintaining a sense of visual lightness.

The overall effect creates a harmonious dialogue between heritage and contemporary design.

  3. A kitchen that stands the test of time

Neptune kitchens are built to last.

Thanks to their solid wood construction, meticulous finishes and timeless design, they blend in just as well with a contemporary home as they do with a historic residence.

At the Château de Carsac, this kitchen perfectly exemplifies this philosophy: a project where high-quality materials, craftsmanship and elegance come together.
